Hi, everyone!
Some years ago, one of my colleagues shared this idea and, since then, I've been using this game a lot mostly with teenage or adult students of higher levels when teaching idioms or phrases. I've created several lists with idioms or phrases I can use in this game. This is just and indicative one so you can alter it by changing the idioms or phrases according to your class' needs. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your feedback!

Where would you like to see yourself 12 months from now, in terms of being a materials writer?

I would like to be more creative and full of fresh ideas, and, finally, publish my own book with fun and interesting ELT materials.

In an era when the image culture is so dominant, make your materials appealing, interesting and motivating.
In an era when the image culture is so dominant, make your materials appealing, interesting and motivating. At the same time, think of smart ways to make students read and think more - not only about language, but in general.
I think that students should be exposed to various sources of input coming from both native and non-native speakers.

Hello, everybody.
Hello, everybody.
This is my assignment for Week 2. Sorry for sharing it so late, but the last few days have been very busy for me. It's a worksheet for B2 students on an article from TimeOut London magazine (actually it's taken from the website - you can find all the links in my notes). I use magazines very often when I teach and I especially like TimeOut as I use it a lot to create decision making activities (what events/films to choose etc.) Here, I tried to deal with challenging vocabulary and introduce students to authentic magazine-style writing and language. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your feedback!

Hi everyone!
Hi everyone!
This is my assignment for week 1. Since most of us like to share funny posts with mistakes we find in various texts on social media, I used sings with vocabulary mistakes to create a lesson that focuses on easily confused words and spelling errors as well as their correction.
I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your feedback!

Hi, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I agree with almost all your interesting comments and posts.
For me, the most important Principle when it comes to creating or designing materials is that they should be motivating and interesting for students. This is because, nowadays, learners - especially children and teenagers - are exposed to and bombarded with so many different stimuli that they sometimes have great difficulty staying focused and engaged in activities in a formal learning context. This means that the material used should be intriguing and stimulating for them as they are more likely to deal with a challenging but interesting activity than with something they find easier but dull.
Of course, all other principles are of great importance and should be considered when creating material.

Hello everyone
Hello everyone,
My name is Myrto Chatzigeoriadou (I'm a real person - don't mind my name). I studied English Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and, then, I completed an MA in Education Management at King's College London. As for my professional life, I have been a teacher of English since 2004, teaching students of all ages and levels in a variety of educational contexts and institutions.
I had always liked creating my own materials for my students when, seven years ago, I found out that I also had a gift for writing. Thus, I got a job at Super Course ELT Publishing where I still work as a full-time writer. Having written several books as well as developed ELT materials for beginner, elementary and intermediate levels, I thought that taking part in this course would give me fresh and helpful ideas so as to improve my writing skills and technique. Looking forward to it!
