Hello classmates!
I am Alisa Halim from Malaysia. I am currently teaching in a secondary public school in Terengganu. I own a B.Ed and currently searching for a scholarship to do a Master degree.
I hope to gain a lot from this course. Our textbook is more than a decade old now hence requires a lot of adaptations. The internet (TPT and Pinterest for instance) has helped me a lot. Yet I need more. I need to create my own. The one that suits my students (their needs and their context).
Oh my! I can’t wait July 1st.
Nice to meet you Alisa!
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you Alisa. Maybe you'll be able to see your own lessons on TPT after this course.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Alisa. I empathize with you about the textbook. I have just worked with a team to try and upgrade English books from the national curriculum... It has been an exercise in futility... You can upgrade books to the best of your ability but teachers need training too... :-(
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa. Nice to meet someone else based in Malaysia as I'm pretty new here.
ReplyDeleteI know that new English textbooks have been introduced into primary as my eldest just started Standard 1, so hopefully this will reach secondary, no later than 6 years from now! In the meantime, all the best with adapting and supplementing materials, and finding that MA scholarship!
By the way, have you ever been to the MELTA Conference? I'm going for the first time this August.
Miss Alex Nice to meet you too Alex!

ReplyDeleteRehmat Ebrahim It must be a real hard work. I’ve been trying to improve on parts I could but it takes me A LOT of time. I think it’s because I am not good at it and not well-trained to do it. Hope this course could help me improve.
ReplyDeleteHi Phil! I think I’ve met you before (virtually). There are some opening this November, have to start compiling!
ReplyDeleteI attended twice as a presenter but don’t think of attending anymore. The workshops are good but the fee is absurd! Might as well attend free workshops online. There are a lot nowadays. Btw, are you presenting your paper?
Rehmat Ebrahim so true
ReplyDeleteDay In Day Out I know exactly what you mean. I could spend hours on making something presentable. I guess I should have found this course twenty years ago. It would have saved me a lot of wrinkles :)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Alisa - I know about old textbooks. I'm always looking for new ideas and new material. Seems we share the same age group of teaching.
