I would love to see myself having more time to thinks, plan and write. I guess I need to find the right time and put things in order at school to have that time too! I am needing one extra day a week at least to cope with school, students, husband, house...

I found extremely important to share your thoughts and ideas with someone who is in the same path... colleagues, partners and if you have the change to share with experts in the matter that would be great!!! Like in this course!!! I’m very happy to spend my Sundays with all of you!

I believe that I’m in the middle of the issue here, I don’t agree but I don’t disagree either. From my experiences and my context of teaching, I believe that having authentic materials from native speakers is extremely useful and beneficiary for ELT. Sometimes some audios are Prepared exactly for a specific purpose, ex teach a grammar point, or specific vocabulary. This way they don’t achieve the communicative purpose of the language. May be we need to start researching for everyday language use to help our students fulfill their purpose.

After reading a lot of these posts, I must say that i agree with most of them in the sense that we need to bear in mind certain characteristics at the moment of teaching. I particularly become interested in one of Tomlinson's principles: the necessity of students to be engaged affectively and cognitively in the language experience.
I believe it is absolutely helpful but also challenging to create materials following this principle. From my experience, I have two kids with dyslexia in one of the classes, so we need to revise everything at the moment of giving out activities. We need to follow certain formats and be aware of their previous schemas in order to engage them. At the same time, we realize that if we contemplate every aspects of their process of learning, they do a great job in the English classes.
Anyway, sometimes we feel that we are not prepare ... or at least we do not know much about these issues. I feel that we need to be so flexible to engage in the aspects related to learning disabilities. If we are true to ourselves, the results are amazingly comforting.

Hello everyone!
Hello everyone!
My name is Eugenia Gatica and i live in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I have been teaching for almost 10 years and I am currently the headmistress of the english department in a bilingual school. Also, I studied and worked in some universities in Boston, USA. and this opened my mind to different approaches of the language and ELT materials. I am very enthusiastic about this course and I hope we take the most of it.
Nice to meet you all!
