Next week in class with my advanced group we are going to look at the theme of places. I've created two 'games' to supplement the materials I'm going to use.
The first is a 'magic presentation' which is an improvisation speaking activity. The Powerpoint shows pictures of places and when used on Powerpoint (not Google Drive) the images change automatically at 45 sec intervals.
One person has to speak about the picture until it changes. When the picture changes the person speaking changes too. You can have all eyes on one group or have mini groups do it concurrently to a smaller audience.
All the photos used were taken by my friends or me. I got them all from Facebook.

The second activity is an information gap crossword to review the vocabulary. This is one of my favourite activities but it's the first time I've created my own. I used the site Half a crossword to create it. The students will split into groups a and b. The A group will collaborate to write the clues and the Bs too. Then A and B will form pairs to complete the crossword.

ReplyDeleteHi Geraldine,
You’re making me work twice as hard this wek by creating two sets of materials! Well done though – it’s particularly nice for me to see you creating materials you’ll be using with real students next week.
A few comments.
Photos activity – a lovely activity. Very simple, good fun and inspiring for students. I love it.
Crossword – I love split crosswords like this – and it’s great that you’ve been able ot create one just for this class.
Well done!
Really beautiful pictures with lots of detail which ensures students won't run out of ideas in the description part. Your task also reminded me of a tool available on classtools.net called lights out which allows users to gradually reveal what a picture shows - it could be useful if you're working on language for speculations. Lovely crossword as well!
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough Thank you for the feedback Katherine. The information gap crossword is one of my all time favourites and I'm pleased that because of this assignment I know have an easy to use website so I can create my own in the future.
ReplyDeleteMaria Theologidou Thanks for your kind comments and for the website suggestion. That's a great idea and I hadn't seen that specific site before. It's been lovely looking at all your excellent materials- so thank you.
