Another extra discussion topic:
Making beautiful worksheets
Some course participants are very good at using technology to make beautiful worksheets. Other participants need a bit more help. Technology isn't my strong point so I'd like to invite you all to share any advice you have on making worksheets look great. Advice can be a simple tip or a link to a useful website or tool.
Great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing idea, Barbara. There are so many people on the course who are great worksheets designers. Could you please share your designing sites? I don't have the skill. I would like to learn.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Learn to get good with one tool. PowerPoint and keynote are super easy to use. Everything I do is using keynote. I don’t have time to get too technical with my design.
ReplyDeleteCanva's my favourite :)

I wonder where people get the cute clip arts.
ReplyDeleteRhett Burton They might be easy for you but they aren't easy for everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI should point out that I wrote this discussion question, not Barbara (who really is good with technology!) I wonder if there are any good tutorials on YouTube about this. Maybe something designed for children to follow!
ReplyDeleteI like canva too! But I am all ears in this matter!

I use Apple Pages to do my worksheets. It's a blank page where it's easy place objects where you would like them to go. That's it for the technology. For me, worksheets are: language design, sequencing and layout. I look at graphic art everywhere for inspiration: magazines,TV, billboards, logos and more. However, I don't want to get into a feedback loop. I want my worksheets to be recognized as mine, my brand. But, I'm always open to change for the better. This course has helped me to see changes. I'm very happy with this course.
ReplyDeleteI use PowerPoint for all my worksheets by changing the slide size to A4. It's more versatile than Word and lends itself to creating visually strong material. What's more, material in PowerPoint can become reusable learning objects (RLOs), just pick up a slide from it and put it somewhere else and I don't have to deal with the problems that happen when you copy paste bits and pieces between Word documents.
ReplyDeleteI mainly use Word for creating materials. The 2016 version offers a lot of possibilities. For drawings, there is Paint 3D. Canva is another helpful tool.
