ASSIGNMENT 1.docx


Hi everyone! The second class has already finished. It was amazing, as usual!
For our first assignment, I've developed some activities on a very popular story. The material is aimed at young learners. In my opinion, learners should always be exposed to authentic material. I don't like the idea of grading the language they're being exposed. That's not natural and I don;t find it effective. I'd love to read your comments.

  1. Laura - this looks like a really fun lesson for young learners. I can see how the materials can support the students' understanding of the song.
    Something that's not clear to me - what will the students be doing as they listen to the song? Do they see the video or just hear it?

  2. Thanks Wilma! Students listen to the story in the video and while listening to it, they start singing too because it has a lot of repetition. The very first time they listen to it, they are supposed to do that, just to listen to it! 😉

  3. Thanks for sharing. It's very clear and easy to follow. I can imagine being a teacher in your school and finding the materials/resources and reviewing the teacher notes to see the activities and target language easily.

    One other addition that can be helpful for teachers is to add suggested timings (e.g. 3 mins) to the lesson stages/activities.

    I wasn’t able to comment in Google without rearranging the lovely formatting. So I’ll comment here.


    Thanks for sharing the materials and the background info that is always useful. I don’t know this story but now I want to read it! I also love the colourful, child-friendly images – I bet the children love them too.

    Your T notes are very clear and are of profesional standard. I like the teacher tips too. If you ever have some spare time and wanted to earn some extra money, publishers are often on the look out for writers to write teacher guides. The only thing I’d change (and it’s a monor, formatting thing) is that I’d make the Tnotes for the teacher the same size or smaller, not bigger – I’m talking about the font size.

    Obviously in these materials there are no written instrcutions for the children. But the clear guidance for the teacher will be much appreciated. I also like the fact that there is a lot of variety and repetition – it isn’t always easy to get that balance right and (as you know) children need both. Great!
    I agree with Phil's suggestion for adding timings - he's after my job!

I´m here to learn and to make some extra money too so I may need your guidance to know how to start. Of course I´ll make the changes you and Phil told me. I´d also like to know what happens with this kind of activities when the story is not your own. What about copyright and so on? If you haven´t read the story, I strongly recommend to do so, it´s catching! Thanks once and again!
