Firstly, I want to thank everyone for these four weeks. I have learned a lot. I want to thank those who put their valuable time into giving me feedback and hopefully you can use my worksheets in your own classroom. Thanks again.
Week 4 assignment: Directions and Puzzles. For sure, directions is my weakest area. This worksheet is based on a video that I made for my YouTube channel (YouTube @ Mark Kulek). The video is yet to be released. Please help me get the directions straight. I think Katherine had a brilliant idea for keeping a directions bank. I would like to make a deposit, please. Thank you for your time.

What a colorful and nice design! I like how these worksheets look like! At the end... answers for page three means the answers for exercise three, right?
ReplyDeleteRenata Todorovska thank you. Yes, those are the answers. I need to be clearer about that, thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Mark,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your week 4 materials with the rest of us – and it’s great to hear your positive comments about the course. Apologies for being late in commenting. It’s been a crazy week. Once again you’ve created an impressive, very profoessional looking worksheet. I particularly like the homogeneity of your materials. They look like a Mark K ‘brand’ – that’s sometimes difficlut to acheive so well done! Thanks Mark for making me laugh too – I bet your students love your humour.
A few comments on the actual worksheets, focusing on instructions especially. I think the numbering and lettering etc. could be simplified – but the activitiies themselves are great!
Page 1
I think it would be better to have the heading (Matching and Pair Practice) un-numbered and then to number the actual task (Find the …) I also think it’s necessary (for ease of use) to break down mulitiple tasks into separate instructions.
When you write an instruction think about what the studnets have to do exactly. So in this case maybe:
I’d give each of the first sentences a letter a-d. I’d remove the letters in the responses. I’d make the matching activitity ‘draw lines’
1. Draw lines to match the sentences to the responses.
I’d remove the A and B boxes on the pictures as this is doubling up the previous activity.
2. Match the pictures to the dialogues in exercise 1. Then practise the dialogues in pairs.
3. Draw lines to match the sentences to the responses.
4. Match the pictures to the dialogues in exercise 1. Then practise the dialogues in pairs.
Page 2
Here I’d put ‘soon’ and ‘Time expressions’ in red, ‘heavy traffic’ and ‘Causes’ in blue.
1. Practise the dialogue in pairs. Pay attention to the words in red and blue.
2. Complete the dialogues. Use phrases from the boxes above.
3. (This is fine)
Page 3
Careful! They aren’t unscrambling sentences, they’re unscrambling words. Simplify maybe?
1. Order the words. Write the sentences.
2. Do the crossword. Read the clues and write the words.
*There are no spaces between words.
Katherine Bilsborough Thanks Katherine! As usual, great and useful feedback. Thanks again for your wonderful workshop. Much appreciated!
