marianna casoria Hi Marianna, I like this picture - based activity very much. It promotes curiosity which teaches thinking outside the box. It also develops crearivity , and creativity is fun :) Thank you.for the great activity. If you don't mind marianna casoria , I will save your material for the use in class in the coming school year.
Hi Marianna, Thanks for uploading your week 3 materials. Controversial is sometimes good! It certainly gets students talking.
A few comments I love your choice of image(s).
Page 1. You’ve numbered ‘1’ but it isn’t a task – so maybe I’d add something here before ‘Photographs sem to …’ to make it a task. E.g. 1. Look and read. Do you agree with the idea?
Page 2. Is this a speaking activity? I asume so but maybe you need to make this explicit. It isn’t 100% clear to me what students have to do. – or how the think bubbles and speech bubbles are used. Do the ‘mum’ test?
Be careful with spelling too (sympathy)
Page 3. Nice speculation activity. Nice grammar focus too ( I wonder). I’d remove the ‘…’ after the examples though as these sentenecs are complete.
I think this is a lovely set of materials as it addresses a tough subject in a sensitive way and allows for seculation and personalisation.
I also like the topic, the image, and the way in which you introduce grammar. However, in your grammar explanation you say "The verb “to wonder” is followed by question words as well as the conjunctions “if” and “whether”", but in the examples you only use questions words. if I were you, I would also illustrate the use of 'if/whether'. I also feel that many students might lack any background knowledge whatsoever which would allow them to engage in the discussions you have designed. Again, if I were you, I would provide some more guidance and some information to help them out and get the discussion rolling.
