Hello all

Hello all,

I'm about to go on a 6-day trip, and wanted to post something before leaving! (How else will my mini-vacay be relaxing with an assignment awaiting me?!)

As our program is off until August 20th, I wanted to share something I made recently regarding a Health and Wellness module in my CEFR B2+/CLB 8 class. My reflection has been added accordingly.

Looking forward to your constructive feedback!

  1. I love this. You've added student profiles to make you think of your students' context, added an objectives, interactions, skills and reflection.
This reflects aspects of my cycle for creating an experience for my students. I printed your material and will be diving in a little deeper in my spare time.

  2. There is a lot of thought in this for sure. I like the images and icons you used. I also like the way the information is sorted. The lines and boxes make it easier to read and follow. I really appreciate your reflection as well. It showed me that lessons are about the people in them, and I like that you were able to let the students direct their own conversations, even if they weren't talking about exactly what you'd planned. I wonder if you asked them to reflect as well on what they got out of the lesson?

  3. Hi Emel,

Thanks for sharing these materials and apologies for not commenting sooner.

I agree with the comments other participants have made – a lot of thought has gone into these materials.

I’m assuming the ‘short text’ which is the basis of the task, is the ‘blurb’ that starts ‘In her book ….’
If so, this is a nice idea – to base materials around the blurb for a talk or book or video.
A nice variety of interaction and task types to develop different skills too.
I’m going to comment on the students’ worksheet.

I like the fact that you have a heading.
It would be a good idea to add the first instruction above the text, I think. Just something like: Read the text. Where would you expect t oread something like this? (or similar)

I’d add more numbered tasks through the worksheet – probably another one after the text in the box and before ‘Here I show …’

In fact the materials are very good – but I think that you can make them excellent by numbering and oragnising. I think it’s a good idea top ut yourself in the shoes of the student, go through the materials and ask yourself ‘If I want to ask the teacher about this bit, how could I refer to it? Could I say … In 3b …?’ Etc.
