Hello all!
My week two assignment is a reading assessment using an opinion article. The focus is on understanding implied meaning and tone.
I must say although the majority of words were A1, the type of task is what made it challenging for them. Please see below for a breakdown:
A1: 63% | A2: 11% | B1: 8% | B2: 6% | C1: 0% | C2: 0%
According to the profiler, the overall level is a CEFR B2 (IELTS 5-6) which makes it spot on for my CLB level.

It is nice when you see data that confirms your content is at a good level.
ReplyDeleteHi Emel,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your materials and for sharing the background information which was really useful. I was delighted to see you’d used these materials with the class and so wre able to include some reflective thoughts.
A very interesting text. I didn’t know anything about this case so it was of all the more interest to me. Your students would have been motivated, I’m sure as they’ll have known all about it and will have had their opinions.
I like how you have broken the text down into manageable sizes.
Very clear instruction.
The questions arre well designed to both develop the Reading subskills you mention in your aims and also to develop critical thinking skills. I’m sure this will have generated debate and discussion too – probably beyond the classroom.
Great!
Katherine Bilsborough Thank you! It was quite a topic and led to an interesting debate in class. I use this document when writing level-appropriate questions:
