Hello everyone
This worksheet was designed with a Level B1+ Lower Secondary group of students in mind.
These students had expressed interest in the Harry Potter movies and books but also mentioned they were enrolling in trainings and courses (as part of their school programmes for some of them). So I chose to combine the two :)
Aim: students should be better able to write an inquiry letter about a course following the adequate format and using polite expressions.
Skill/ Language focus: Writing (formal)

Hi Ahlem, I commented on the materials in Google. I couldn't comment on the actual pdf so my comments are in a separate Google doc version. Let me know if you have trouble locating it. What a motivating activity! i love the way you've used your students' interests to teach such useful language. Well done!
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough Thank you, Katherine. Your words are, in turn, very motivating to me!
ReplyDeleteI would like to read the rest of your feedback but I can't seem to find your comments. May I know where I can find the seperate Google doc?
Great fun, very interesting material, that I would love to use if I taught students a bit younger
ReplyDeleteLisbeth Birkmose Thanks Lisbeth! Please feel free to adapt it to suit your current groups if you'd like.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun & beautiful layout. I especially love how you designed the page where they can write their letter.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this worksheet; the topic, the graphic, the activities. They are great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome work, especially the design of the first page! Easy to use and very practical - thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. I love the colors and the consistency in theme and fonts. And I'd love to take your class!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteMiss Alex Thanks Miss Alex! Ashley Dresser Day In Day Out Maria Theologidou Anne Hendler Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I use canva.com - Nouveau sur Canva ? Inscrivez-vous ! to design things like the first and last pages as well as flipcharts. This was my first time using it for the worksheet itself, which I honestly have found complicated since it's tricky to align your texts when you have more than one page to work on. (compared to Microsoft Word where you have a set grid)
ReplyDeleteI love using Canva as well, but I must have missed this design :) It is indeed time consuming, but the end result is always worth the time.
ReplyDeleteMaria Theologidou Agreed!
ReplyDeleteWell done Ahlem Marrakchi , creative as usual :-)
ReplyDeleteAyat Tawel Thanks, mentor! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely set of materials which will be highly motivating for your students. The design is very professional and the whole idea of this being top secret is geat fun. You’ve taken a typical, tradictional activity and transformed it into something really special.
ReplyDeleteActivities
A good sequence of tasks that guide students, offer support and help them develop lots of different language skills. I especially like that you have given studnets tips and also lines to write answers on – where they are expected to write more than one idea.
The final writing task has plenty of support too with the skeleton text and the useful phrases.
A really ovely set of materials which would be extremely motivating. I’m sure lots of other teachers would be happy to use them too.
Katherine Bilsborough Thank you Katherine!
