Hello everyone,
It took me forever! It's an information-gap activity. I've used such activities a million times when teaching, but it's the first time I've created one. I had no idea how confusing creating an info-gap task can be (especially when you don't have a printer to have the two versions on paper in front of you)!
I hope the outcome is decent.
Looking forward to receiving your feedback.
P.S.
The dog in the picture is Rosy, a former stray I took from Greece to Germany for adoption in May :) For the course, I created a lost-pet activity. Rosy is not lost. She is perfectly fine in her new home :) Knock on wood!

The choice of topic is so Margarita :) Loved the design of the activities and their scope. I also think it would be great if students wrote diary entries pretending to be the lost dog and describing a day in their lives. Could also help raise their awareness regarding pet care and stray animals.
ReplyDeleteMaria Theologidou absolutely great. I have something similar in a lesson on the life of stray dogs. Diary entries. Developing empathy. :)
ReplyDeleteNot mentioning stray dogs in this activity was a conscious decision. It is a topic for a totally different lesson. Or a whole course :)
ReplyDeleteMargarita Kosior I agree - just thought about it and that's why I mentioned it :)
ReplyDeleteHi Margarita! Thanks for sharing your materials. I’m adding some comments here.
ReplyDeleteAn activity about lost pets. Now why doesn’t that surprise me? Great idea to use this kind of a notice as ‘content’ – original and highly motivating.
Lay out and design
Very clear and attractive with just the right amount of white space for my taste.
Your instructions are clear too – always a challenge, especially when setting up something complex like a pair work task.
Worksheets are lovely, really motivating. I like the way you’ve used the lost/found posters as input and having one damaged by the reain is genius – a perfect reason for an authentic information gap activity.
Lovely prompts for making the questions too. The follow up task is good because it allows for creativity, is inclusive and do-able because of the models provided. Lovely!
I like Maria's activity about the stray dog diary entry too. Or 'lost' dog in this case.
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough Maria Theologidou I love the diary entry kind of exercise, too. Consider it done :) A week in a stray's life.
