Hi everyone.

Hi everyone. Here is my idea on how one can use proverbs to teach some English vowel and consonant sounds. I have set the level as B1 however, this material can always be modified in order to meet the students' needs, their proficiency level, and/or teacher's objectives.
I am looking forward to you constructive feedback :)

  1. I visited you blog and watch the video of children following their parents. It frightened me. My children are the same as as the children in the video. I love your example of a short text.

  2. I really like the border on your worksheet for the students. And I really like the activity where students figure out the spacing in the proverbs.
Your post reminded me of one of the stories I read to my students. It is called "Caps for Sale" and it's all about "Monkey see monkey do". :)

  3. Rhett Burton I am glad that you liked the example :) Just for clarification, that is not my blog however, it is the link where I took the reading passage from. Yet, that video was very powerful I agree.

  5. Great use of proverbs. Something which all cultures can relate to, and have something similar to in their own language. I'd never heard of "care killed the cat" " he laughs best..." I know them a different way "curiosity" and "He who laughs last, laughs best.". Interesting to know there are different ways to say the same thing.

  6. Hi Ereza, thank you for sharing your materials and sorry for the delay in commenting! Proverbs are an ideal thing to use as content as they encourage students to speculate about meaning and think about language in a creative way. But you've taken it a step further and used them to teach pronunciation - wonderful! I like the sequence of activities too. I've focussed mainly on the proverb worksheet as this is what students see and I can see your instructions and layout, etc. A lovely creative task to finish on too. Really lovely materials.
