Hi everyone.

Hi everyone. I'm a little late to join the group. I'm Anne. I teach young learners (ages 2-12ish) in a small English conversation school (eikaiwa) in the middle of nowhere, Japan. I create materials to supplement our curriculum at school. I also sometimes work with materials freelance - mainly proofreading and editing but occasionally creating materials as well. I'd like to get better at it and that's why I'm here. I look forward to learning from you all.

  6. I've taught 2-6 for 13 years now and I love it! I do lots of storytelling, too. Working with (very) young learners definitely keeps you on your toes, as you said :)

  8. You're someone who really means it when you say "I'd like to get better at X" in a way that is awe-some. I mean, I feel some awe. I've learned and will continue to learn from you as a teacher and person! Let's have a great month! Can't wait to see your stuff on this course and share mine with you. :)

  9. Matthew Noble You inspire awe in me as well, sir. Can't wait to see what you make. I can't promise to complete every assignment - I'm always a little busier than I'd like to be.

  10. Hello Anne, it's great to meet you and have you on the course. I see you're already getting to know other teachers who focus on the same age group, that's good. You'l be able to make buddies and help each other even further. I'll be talking about this on Sunday.

  11. Anne Hendler I taught 2-6 in a private nursery & kindergarten here in Thessaloniki, Greece. I stopped last year after 12 years. I needed to rest and focus more on something less straining for the vocal cords (oh, I sang a lot over those 12 years :) ) and the whole body. Now I mostly work in publishing, but I also do one-on-one classes with little ones and run a storytelling programme for approximately 4-10-year-olds in the local library.

  13. Margarita Kosior I know what you mean! One day, I'd love to have my own little school and do things like volunteering at the library or starting a storytelling club.

  14. Anne Hendler I wanted to start my own school specializing in all this, but having your own business is very risky in Greece nowadays. Plus since I am not a business person, I gave up on this idea, at least for now...

  15. Margarita Kosior I have always had visions of starting a school - but they’ve remained just that...crashing, as they do, into the reality that I was born without the “business” part of the brain it would seem.

  16. Matthew Noble exactly. Aptly put : business part missing. :)

  17. Matthew Noble Margarita Kosior I think you don't know what you're capable of until you give it a try. I don't think of myself as very business-minded, but I might be able to learn.
