Question: Which ONE piece of advice would you give to a teacher who wanted to create their own classroom materials?
I am not sure that I would or could just give ONE single piece of advice to a teacher who wanted to create his or her own ELT classroom materials. First, I feel that creating new materials requires some experience in the classroom with a variety of materials being used by a variety of students before creating your own materials. This allows you to see what works and doesn’t work across a diversity of students. This will allow the teacher to have the ability to create effective lessons for their students. Next, the material should always be “tweaked” to fit the target group of students and as such your created classroom materials need to have built-in flexibility. Last, allow your fellow educators (at least 1 or 2 whom you trust) to read and review your materials and if you trust them to try the materials out also in their classrooms. This three-part answer is my advice.
Great 3-part piece of advice! Thanks for sharing :)
