  1. I really love this lesson and would like to use the idea in my 9th grade sometime. Maybe I would need to pre-teach some of the vocabulary. Thank you for sharing

  2. Dear Lisbeth , you are more than welcome to do this. I can share the rest of the tasks offered by the author of the book. They are really interesting discussion questions.
You are right about pre-teaching vocabulary. I didn't mention the level of the material in my post . Sorry. It' s B2,, for high school graduates.
Thank you for the comment dear Lisbeth.

  4. Is that the job ad for a kindergarten teacher? ;)
I like how well-thought-out your aims are for this task. It can be useful for students on so many levels!

  6. Hi Mariia,

Thanks for sharing your materials. Please see my comments here.

Great idea to use a ‘small and’ in this way – very ‘real’ and useful language.
The activities are fine and a writing is the obvious task to build up to. However, I’d look a bit more carefully at the instructions, use numbering, break them down a bit – make it all more obvious. There are actually 4 or more tasks in one here.

I think you need to make sure what kind of a text you are asking studnets to write. A letter? An essay? An email?

Support – maybe you could add this information to the student’s worksheet.

  7. I just saw the advert is from a published book. I wonder how different the tasks in the book are. It's always useful to use existing materials and then create more focused, context-based materials around them. Always be careful to include the original source though.

  8. Katherine Bilsborough I am sending the the semi - authentic or adapted, I think, material from Cambridge publishing house. This task is the only one for the advert.

  9. Katherine Bilsborough I am inexperienced in materials design, I know that, that's why your feedback is very important for me dear Katherine Bilsborough. I am really grateful.I do a lot of things to develop my learners' writing skilks based on particular formats, alongside others. I teach my learners how ro write stories, essays, emails, etc, as well as about writing sryles.
I tend to use inductive teaching, from ready - made patterns for writing activities to rules. Then we go on to writing practice on a particular rubric.
So I do, but can't write about what I do in an appropriate way.
    Thank you again Katherine Bilsborough
