When using an authentic audio or video it is important to use only ‘native speakers’. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons.

I also disagree with this statement for the same reasons others presented. Most of my students will use English to communicate with people who are non-native speakers. Therefore, they should be exposed to a variety of accents. Even when I use videos made by native speakers, I try to include Australian or Canadian ones.
The CDs accompanying the textbook we use mostly offer British version of English. Since they are used to American English (films, TV shows they watch are mainly American), they sometimes find them hard to follow. So, I believe the more different versions of English they hear, the better.

  1. Very true! Agree! Learning the language means digging into real life situations not an artificial setting of isolated conversations, accents or pronunciation.....

  2. Thank goodness we have so much variety - that's always the best, I think. Nicely put Gordana.
