Hello, everyone.

Hello, everyone. For this week's task I created a series of activities on the topic of popularity using a post uploaded on the blogs of the New York Times. It is intended to be used with B2+ classes preparing for exams of that level which is the reason why I chose to create a gap-fill reading text as my main Reading task.

  1. I love how the sections are beautifully divided. This is a well-thought out worksheet as all sections are equally important and purposeful.

The while-reading activity is interesting and I find the tips to remember and extra tip helpful.

What I like the most with this worksheet is the homework options. However I wonder if students have to conduct an oral presentation if they choose to do Prexi.

  2. Day In Day Out Thank you for your kind words! Regarding your question about Prezi, most of my students so far have used it as an alternative to ppt, therefore they chose to present their material in class as well. Of course, Prezi also gives them the opportunity not to do so if they don't feel like it, but that hasn't been the case so far. :)

  7. Hi Maria,

Thanks for sharing your materials for week 2. Great to have these authentic blog posts as the content – I’m sure the target users would be highly motivated and maybe even encouraged to read more.
The materials are lovely looking. Congratulations. They look very professional and I can see how much thought you’ve given to the design and layout.

Lots of content here, lots of language learning opportunties. I like te progression of activities.

Pre-reading task is nice. I especially like the opportunity for studnets to add their own questions. I’m a big fan of enquiry based learning.

Variety of activity types is always good – you’ve certainly achieved that here. Studnets will be developing all kinds of skills.

Tips! I love this – extra support and advice which goes beyond the immediate task. Lovely.

The mini writing task is wonderful – I’m a huge famn of mini writings as they are less daunting but still offer opportunities for creativity and learning.

Finally, offering choice of homework tasks is wonderful. Choice is another of my favourite approaches to learning.

These materials are excellent. I can’t fault them. Bravo indeed..
