Week 3 Assignment: SGM. Basically, this is student generated. I asked my university students to look through our textbook and write down on a slip[ of paper what they wanted me to cover again. This worksheet is what I came up with based on their requests. The theme is different than what is in the textbook ( directions for using mechanical things). Because I do not own illustrations of the things covered in the textbook, I chose chopsticks. By the way, next week is our last week of the semester so I will have to wait till the fall before we can do this worksheet.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Mark,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your week 3 materials. I love the way you have created materials based on the feedback and requests of your students. You can’t get more learner-centred than that.
This is an attractive worksheet and iIm sure students will find it motivating. I like how you start off with a simple finger-naming task. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this anywhere else.
I think the numbering of instructions (and some actual instructions) could be tightened up. For example the first task:
1. Name the fingers using the words in the box. (I haven’t said ‘green’ box in case this gets printed in black and white at a later date.
2. Read the dialogue (add a question here? – something like: Are the instructions clear?)
3. Complete the instructions using the words in the box.
*Note Task 1, Task 3 and Task 4 are similar and could/should have the same or similar instructions – consistency is important.
I like the personalisation task in 4.
The materials look lovely and I love the pictures of the hands with chopsticks!
A very helpful pattern to teach.
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough thanks so much for your golden nuggets of experience and wisdom. It's those little changes that make big differences. I'm really happy that I'm taking your course here. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteRehmat Ebrahim I'm glad that you like it.
