Have given it a bit of thought, and here’s a summary of the material writing principles I’d like to share, based on my previous experience on this course and recent teaching experience:
- Neat and clean page and instructions, with enough space to write and not too “visually” crowded. We are already (hyper)-stimulated visually using screens many times a day.
- Clear, simple and straightforward teacher’s guidelines with clear aims and target levels: ideally, any teacher should be able to understand how to use materials in a few minutes, without too much preparation involved.
- EAP materials, on the other hand, should contain portions of dense text to give learners an idea of what they are expected to tackle in their courses, both visually and in terms of content.
