Hello everyone!
I have designed this lesson plan around a short story with a twist in the end. In a world full of fake news, I think it is necessary to develop critical and creative thinking skills. This lesson will enable my students to practise thinking outside the box while practising past forms in writing and talking about personal qualities and feelings.
The language in the story is simple so I guess this plan will work well with my mixed-ability classes. (I teach teenagers aged 15-19).
I know I'm a bit late with my assignment but I hope I'll get some feedback from you.

That's a great short story, Gordana - I don't know why but it reminded me a lot of the famous six word stories which I love. It could easily turn into a video project in which students film their different endings.
ReplyDeleteMaria Theologidou Thanks, Maria. A video project is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI loved this! I thought the ending was brilliant. Great connection Maria. I had forgotten about how interesting 6-word stories were.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could get groups to create stories with unexpected endings like this one.
Love the story and the stages. It would generate so many different endings and rich debate and discussion around our own personal versions of this story!
ReplyDeleteHi Gordana, I love this story too and I think it's ideal for the context you describe (and other contexts). I've added some comments to the Google doc.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments too - lots of scope for some creative follow-on activities.
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough Hello, Katherine. Thank you for your feedback. The problem is I can't see your comments.
ReplyDeleteMaria Theologidou I love this added idea. I do a lot of video projects with my college-age students. They all love writing the scripts and making the videos. The video project works really well with teaching new and complex grammar constructs like phrasal verbs!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good story and an unexpected ending! When I read the title of the assignment I thought somebody was going to die and it drew my attention as I wanted to see how you were able to create an assignment on such a topic. Now I am smiling and I absolutely loved your work!
ReplyDeleteMiss Alex Thank you so much, Alex. I love the story. I simply had to think of a way to use it in class.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'll try and find out what the problem is! I clicked on the Google doc and then I clicked again to get to an editable version.
