Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
I think we do need authentic material in our classrooms. It's a way of exposing learners to a real and natural language. We do need a real context as well because we are preparing them to be able to communicate with different people in different scenarios. However, they will find people from different countries and languages speaking English, native or non-native speakers so they have to be exposed to different accents and different "Englishes" to finally be able to understand them. To conclude, it's not essential to expose learners just to native speakers but to a variety of speakers. Have a great week!

  2. I agree, Laura. All those different speakers from different places are authentic users of English. The great thing about making materials for our own students in our own classes is that we can choose texts that meet their specific needs. :)
