Wow... this looks so REAL. If I were your student, I would walk away confident that I could successfully achieve this task. I love this!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rhett. Wow.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Rhett Burton and Anne Hendler :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ayat, I agree with Rhett - very real! I was wondering what sort of reading tasks you plan to use with the hotel listings.
ReplyDeleteAdi Rajan Not sure what you by the hotel listings !The three hotel reviews are used for gist reading at the beginning, then each one is used for a task during the lesson (first complaint email, second model, them writing their own on a the third one )
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful assignment! So much reality into it!
ReplyDeleteMiss Alex Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteAyat Tawel They seem to be listings rather than reviews like what you find on Booking.com or Agoda but yes I was asking about the gist task and also whether students would refer back to the hotel information when writing their emails.

ReplyDeleteHi Ayat, thank you for sharing your materials. I’ve written comments on the Google doc for the teacher instructions (very thorough and with clear steps and plenty of support).
I love the fact that you’ve used real, authentic adverts forthe cntent and springboard for the rest of the lesson.
The email and other elements of the lesson you refer to in the teacher’s instructions (appendix 2, appendix 3 and appendix 4) aren’t included with the materials. This is what Adi is probably referring to. Do you have them? If so, fine. If not, don’t worry!
Katherine Bilsborough thank a lot for the comments. I will check again the missing materials.
ReplyDeleteKatherine Bilsborough I checked it again and can see all appendices in the same document !
ReplyDeleteAdi Rajan Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the late reply. Hope you can see all appendices in the document. Yes, I meant to include only the general info about the hotel and not the reviews. I believe this would give students the opportunity to come up with their own ideas based on the info they have in these kind of listings as you call them and their own general experience. Actually when I tried it with one of my classes, one student said she has been to one of these hotels and wrote about her real experience there, which made the task unbelievably real (which might happen just a few times in our teaching career!)
