Hi there!
For this assignment, I planned a short writing lesson for my Business English students. I decided to focus on the structure of short sentences and their effectiveness for sales strategies.
Ideally, the full lesson would be followed up by other examples on exercises 4 and 5 and then some focus on form too. As quotes share some similarities with the type of writing used in marketing and advertising, I thought it would be a good mix.
I don't know if I went too far in my attempt!
I'm looking forward to your comments.
I like the quotes you chose, Pedro and I think this is a task that could work with other groups of students as well. When I saw it I thought it could work as an alternative first lesson activity for adult students through which they introduce themselves by presenting their personality as a brand.
ReplyDeleteHi Pedro! Thanks for sharing your materials. I wasn’t able to comment in Google so I’m adding some comments here.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes!
The materials are ‘short and sweet’ – that’s good! I like the choice of quotations and I think having two to compare adds another level to learning and develops different thinking skills.
A couple of points:
Instructions are clear.
Numbering is clear and helps with ‘navigation’ through the materials.
In 1b and 2a I’d use Why (not)? Just in case.
2b sounds a little awkward to me. Maybe you need to get rid of the ‘a’ before ‘writing’ or change ‘writing’ to ‘text’.
I’d keep the same font in activity 3.
This is a really nice set of materials. Adding the link is good because those students who are interested can go away and read further.
