Great to use a word cloud to introduce a new topic. A nice sequence of tasks and a great authentic text that would be very motivating to students. I’m sure other participants will be keen to use these materials with their own clases.
Vocab focus is useful – but there are a lot of other words and phrases in the text that you haven’t included. You could add a homework task to focus on some – maybe put them in bold and ask students to find out what they mean and write a sentence using some. I’m just saying this because there might be an opportunity to learn vocabulary – maybe adjectives like breathtaking, undisputed. incessant or words and phrases related to art exhibitions like self portrait, art installation, onsite booth, etc. For this second idea you could do a matching activity (using these and more two-word phrases).
Now you’ve got me thinkig of lots of selfie-related activities! Great.
Marianna, I'm teaching a group of female homemakers age group 40-45. They are at the same level that your materials are developed for. They are thrilled with their smartphones but are not very tech savvy. I'd like to use your materials in a lesson with them at sometime in the next month or two. may I use it?
